Admission Criteria

An applicant who is from the district where JNVs have been opened can apply for admission to the respective schools. The students who are applying for admissions in class 6 should be in class 5th during the current academic session. The age of the candidate should be between 9 years to 13 years. No relaxation in age is given to the students belonging to the reserved category.

In case the candidate aspires to take admission in the 9th standard then his age should be between 13 years to 16 years. The student should be studying in class VIII before appearing for the JNVST class 9 exam. There is no age relaxation for the students who are from the reserved category.
No second chance is given to the students in the JNVST exam.

Following are the exam reservations for the applicants for JNVST:
  • Gender wise- Girls 33% and boys 67%
  • Area wise- Urban 25% and Rural 75%
  • Physically handicapped-3%
  • Category wise- SC minimum 15%. ST minimum 7%; Maximum 50% combining both the categories
